TMS Therapy for PTSD

What is PTSD?

Living with PTSD isn’t just scary—it can feel like you’re trapped in a nightmare you can’t wake up from. Flashbacks, night terrors, paralyzing anxiety, and emotional numbness take hold—and they don’t go away. You might feel exhausted from reliving the past or exhausted from trying to outrun it. We understand how overwhelming it can be.

That’s why we offer alpha peak frequency–guided TMS—a breakthrough, non-invasive, drug-free therapy. Engineered to heal, not just mask symptoms, many of our patients experience significant relief—even when nothing else has worked.

Frequently Asked Questions

PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) is a mental health condition triggered by experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event — but it’s more than just “bad memories.” It can disrupt your sleep, hijack your emotions, keep you stuck in fear, and distance you from those you love. It’s a brain-based condition, and it’s real. But healing is possible.

Yes. Many of our patients come to us after exhausting traditional options. TMS works differently — by directly stimulating and rebalancing the areas of the brain impacted by PTSD. It can help calm the overactive fear center (amygdala) and improve emotional regulation and sleep without medications.

TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) delivers gentle magnetic pulses to targeted areas of the brain — specifically those involved in mood, memory, and fear response. At BrainStim, we use your individual brain data (MRI + qEEG) to guide treatment with extraordinary precision.

You might feel a light tapping sensation on your scalp during each pulse, but it’s generally well-tolerated. There’s no need for anesthesia or recovery time — you can return to normal activities right after your session.

Yes, TMS is FDA-cleared for depression and has been used safely in clinical settings for years. At BrainStim Centers, we go a step further by customizing every treatment to your brain’s unique pattern, enhancing both safety and effectiveness.

A typical course involves daily sessions (5 days a week) for about 6 to 8 weeks. Each session lasts about 20–30 minutes. We'll monitor your progress closely and adjust the plan as needed based on your brain's response.

Most TMS centers use a one-size-fits-all approach. At BrainStim, we use neuro-navigation, functional brain mapping, and your individual alpha peak frequency to tailor each session to your brain. That’s why our results speak for themselves.

Yes. Many PTSD patients also suffer from anxiety, insomnia, and depression. TMS has shown effectiveness across all of these areas, offering comprehensive relief from the most common co-occurring symptoms.
